Hack this site
Restyle the whole site. Pick a look, mix its parts, or write your own CSS. It follows you to every page, and you can share it with a link.
Nothing leaves your browser. Reset any time to get the real site back.
Pick a look
Five whole looks. Two of them are designs I rejected while building this site.
Mix the parts
Colors from one look, type from another. Every change shows at once, here and on every page.
Preview
A band, a button and some pills, as they look right now. Then go and browse the real pages.
- Astro
- CSS variables
- No backend
Share it
The link carries the whole theme, so anyone who opens it sees the site your way. Your own CSS is never in it.
Write your own CSS
Anything goes. It runs on your screen only and stays in this browser. No CSS ideas? Copy the prompt, paste it into ChatGPT or Claude with what you want, and paste the answer back here.
Hooks you can style
--color-yellow, --color-cobalt, --color-tomato- the three band fills
--c-bg, --c-ink, --c-muted- page background, text and quiet text
--font-display, --font-sans, --font-mono- headings, body text, labels
--th-radius, --th-shadow- corner radius and shadow offset (when a theme is on)
.band-yellow, .band-cobalt, .band-tomato, .band-black- the full-width color blocks
.page-head- the band that opens every inner page
.hit, .hit-primary- every button-like link
.pill, .tag, .label- skill pills, status tags, mono labels
.row, .list- rows in the work, project and writing lists
.prose- the text of a post
.font-display, .font-title- big headings, list titles
.frame- framed screenshots and covers
How it works
The site was already built on CSS variables, so a theme is just a few values. A tiny script in the page head reads your saved theme, checks every value against a fixed list, and sets them before the page paints. No backend, no build step, no framework.
Share links carry only those checked values, never raw CSS. CSS from strangers could leak what is on the page or fake it, so your own CSS only ever runs for you.
Read the head scriptor the theme CSS. Want the other experiments? Try the playground.
